Union
Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani has begun another crusade and
people on Twitter appear to gladly participate. Commending the cotton
business, Ms Irani tweeted a photo of herself in a cotton sari and
urged others to share their #CottonIsCool looks too. She labeled a
few people in her tweet including Fashion Design Council of India and
Rajasthan's Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje among others, encouraging
them to share their cotton looks. #CottonIsCool is currently slanting
on Twitter.
“India's
rendezvous with cotton predates the Indus Valley civilization and has
since evolved. Today, India is one of the largest cotton producing
nations & cotton has become the ultimate summer fabric,” Irani
said on her post, adding, “Cotton provides comfort in the scorching
heat. Wear cotton to stay cool & celebrate our cotton industry
that employs millions across the country.”
“I
celebrate Indian summers and cotton industry with my
#CottonIsCool look. What is your #CottonIsCool look?!” she asked.
A
few people have joined Ms Irani's campaign as lots of them are
posting their own particular pictures with #CottonIsCool. Among them
are actress-parliamentarian Hema Malini, former Indian opener and
current Twitter lord Virender Sehwag, Railways Minister Suresh
Prabhu, Cricketer Mohammad Kaif and some more.
As
a major aspect of promoting the industry, the union ministry of
textiles has put out a series of posts via networking sites with
intriguing facts about cotton.
